God is constantly putting me in a place to sharpen my obedience and faith. These last few months, the lesson He taught me was, “just move! I’ll explain later.”
Let me just say it’s only March and I feel like God has been shuffling me around like no other. And, I love it!
God will tell us to do things by way of a notion in your spirit, your intuition, and any other word you use to describe the thought or desire that comes to your mind from nowhere. If we follow the leading of the Spirit we have an opportunity to experience an amazing journey with God that ultimately builds our most high faith.
Cover Your Head
During the January revival at church, I was in my usual worship flow and the thought dropped in my spirit, “you should wrap your head tomorrow.” At the time I thought I was just being lazy about my hair. So the next night at the revival I wore my headwrap. That morning I woke up with a desire to wear my headscarf to work, but I was worried if it would be “professional enough” (being a black woman in the workplace, that’s another post for another day), so I went to work with my head uncovered. That morning to told my colleague about my desire to wear my headwrap to work and she encouraged me to do so. With the encouragement and co-sign I was looking for (hey I’m a work in progress too), I started wearing my hair wrapped daily.
Later that month at our communion service, God revealed the scripture 1 Corinthians 11:2-15. At that moment, I realized God had dropped the very desire in my heart in preparation for my upcoming wedding. I was to cover my head to represent the new spiritual covering and authority that would exist in my life, my husband.
A Word Study
I recently attended a workshop on overcoming fear at work. Well, I got to work one morning and God told me (thought/desire) to review the presentation. I read over the presentation and even conducted some additional research on fear and it impacts people achieving their goals.
If your anything like me, once you get on the internet and start doing any research you end up down a rabbit hole of information. But this time, when I tried to veer off the assigned topic, I would feel slightly anxious. So I went back to researching fear. Then suddenly I felt as though I had enough information.
Later that evening, I received a text from a church friend seeking guidance around change. Believe it or not when I called her, what topic was the center of the discussion but fear! My obedience to conduct the brief word study allowed me the ability to speak confidently to her situation and point her to some additional resources along with scripture to help her move forward in her goals.
A Quick Prayer
My fiancé and I were coming home from the mall when we saw a car speeding past us in the rain. As the car tried to take the exit, it flipped over into the woods. I instantly yelled for my fiancé to pull over. I called the police as he went to check on the driver. As he was waiting for help to arrive, I sat in the car.
Suddenly, I felt the emotional burden and tug on my heart to pray and I went in. I was praying hard and started to cry. But then I told myself, “Kimberly, it’s probably not that bad. Relax!” A few minutes later the police arrived and my fiancé returned to the car. I asked about the driver. He said, “He was unconscious the whole time, but as the police started to arrive he began to come to.” Moments before the police arrived was when I had the burden to pray.
I don’t know what I was battling in my prayers, but I was excited to hear he was alive and awake.
Just Move, I’ll Explain Later
To pull it all together, when you hear that small voice in your mind, will you say yes or will you miss out?
God’s calling you, leading you, and directing you. He only needs you to move and with time you’ll gain an understanding of why. Don’t miss out on letting God use you and increase your faith by asking too many questions.
Be Encouraged! Be the Light! Take Action!
