Push It to the Limit

Push It to the Limit

I’m sure hearing Rick Ross at the gym Monday has something to do with this title but that’s neither here nor there.

Each year for my birthday I sit back and reflect on the year past and set goals for my new year. This year has been a little different in that the goals established aren’t mine but God’s. He is pushing me to the limit.

As you all know I took a long and much needed sabbatical this year. Upon returning to life God has been speaking to me in ways I couldn’t even imagine. He’s been whispering things to do, next steps to take, and with every obedient action his opening me up to a new level.

I wish I could say I’m in love with this phase of my life, but in all honesty it’s come with mixed emotions. Many of the asks make me uncomfortable or puts me in uncharted territory. I often feel insecure, inadequate, and unsure of myself to say the least. But, there is excitement because I also want to see how following his voice and will for my life is going to play out. So, I find myself doing it anyway, but begrudgingly but with joy.

Confirmation & Challenge

This week I had the pleasure of catching up with my cousin and spiritual rolldog. I was excited to hear God had been pushing her as well. She shared with me her 2019 goals and all the big things she set out to complete. Given the space we’re both in, I knew there was a but. We’re not in 2019 yet and God has started to challenge her goals to see if she would surrender to His will for her. Many parts of our conversation assured me I was doing what God had called me to do.

Challenge

This short post is a challenge of sorts. For each of you to surrender your goals to God this year. Even if you’ve already written them down. Be willing to start over.

Spend the last 20 or so days asking Him about the 6 F’s.

1. Family

2. Friends

3. Faith

4. Finances

5. Future

6. Freedom

Ask how can you surrender to his will?

What would He like you to do?

Ask Him what you need to let go?

How does he want you to sacrifice?

In all create the space for God to show up in your life and push you to the limit.

A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

Proverbs 16:9
