There’s Growth in the Rain

There’s Growth in the Rain

THIS YEAR I COMMITTED TO LIVE A FEARLESS LIFE AND GOD IS HOLDING ME TO IT, EVEN IT IF HE HAS TO MAKE RAIN FOR ME TO FOLLOW THROUGH.

The Rain

Change can be so uncomfortable. And for many of us we wouldn’t change much if situations didn’t come about to force us to grow and become better. There are currently some areas in my life where God is pouring out the rain. I wish I could say it’s the blessing type rain, but no it’s the growth type rain. I like to call it the pain rain, where it seems you’re being flooded (overwhelmed).

Unfortunately, when I’m in the rain, things can get foggy. Making life at times becomes hard to navigate. I forget what God has already done for me. The spirit of doubt kicks in, and I start speaking all the things I can’t do. That devil is a slickster in that way, always coming for our minds. But then just like when driving through the fog I have to turn on my high beams to see myself through, my high beams in life is the word of God.

The Growth

For the last three years, God has been pushing me towards a business venture. For many reasons, well excuses, I have not completely stepped out on faith such as fear of failure, doubt of where to start, and is the brand name good enough (this one had me questioning the blog *palm to face*). I would start the research, I’ve even attended a conference, and secured my domain name and LLC. I just need to finish the business plan and hit the go button. Up until last night I still had uncertainty.

Then I was reminded, all the areas in my life where I’ve grown the most was because God sent the rain. He made me so uncomfortable that I had to get in a boat and move! I couldn’t stay in the same place doing the same thing with the same people.

Encourage Yourself

This morning, to help myself commit to what God is calling me to do, I had to encourage myself with scriptures. I told myself:

  • I am more than a conqueror ~Romans 8:37
  • Greater is He that is in me, than he who is in the world.  ~1 John 4:4
  • I am the head and not the tail. ~Deuteronomy 28:13
  • I am the lender and not the borrower. ~Deuteronomy 28:12
  • God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.  ~2 Timothy 1:7
  • If I commanded you to it, I will give you the strength through it. Don’t be afraid or discouraged for I am with you. ~ Joshua 1:9 (A paraphrased version)

These are a few scriptures I spoke to my situation. Use these or find your own to encourage yourself, remembering that God’s word is the light of our lives. I also had to remind myself, everyone that has made it somewhere in life had to encounter some rain even some setbacks. Some get sprinkles others get hurricanes but in the end we all get growth and change.

Thank you Lord for the growth. I trust you to see me through. I trust you to push me past my fears and discomfort. Thank you for doing a good work in me. Amen.

How has God’s rain helped you grow? What scriptures did you use to encourage yourself?  I would love to hear your story in the comment box below.
